Uganda’s small, commercial-grade arabica coffee, typically graded B or lower (screen size below 15/64 inches, ~6 mm), is sourced from SL14, SL28, and Bugisu varietals grown at 1,200-2,000m in volcanic regions like Mount Elgon and Rwenzori. Often washed-processed—depulping, 12-36 hour fermentation, and sun-drying—or occasionally natural-processed, these smaller beans yield a simple cup. Expect mild acidity with faint citrus, earthy, or nutty notes, a light body, and a short finish. Scoring below 83 SCA, they’re used in commercial blends, instant coffee, or budget roasts, offering an affordable, less complex taste of Uganda’s vibrant coffee heritage.
