Uganda Screen 12 Robusta coffee, a smaller grade (12/64 inches, ~4.8 mm), is sourced from Coffea canephora varietals grown at 900-1,500m in Uganda’s fertile regions like Buganda and Bunyoro. Typically natural-processed, whole cherries are sun-dried for 10-21 days, emphasizing earthy tones. The cup is bold and full-bodied with low acidity, offering flavors of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and strong woody earth, with minimal sweetness. The finish is short and slightly astringent, lacking the depth of higher grades. Scoring 78-80 SCA, Screen 12 Robusta is used in low-cost blends or instant coffee, supporting Uganda’s smallholder coffee economy.
